Yeesh, hope it turned out OK. I've never made sorbet, so I admire your courage.

Clearly, unromantic restaurants (at least in the conventional sense of "romance") are the way to go if you're gonna spend the night out. A Little Tokyo V-Day sounds great. And yes, peer pressure can be a bitch!

Even bakeries are in on the scam: I paid almost SIXTEEN dollars for FOUR chocolate-dipped strawberries, then was too embarrassed to excahnge them after the sticker shock faded. And then I realized actually making them with Charlotte would be much more fun (albeit messier) than simply giving one to her as a deviation from the standard cookie. Though she still negotiated a heart-shaped cookie today (not even on sale!).

normally, i'm totally with you, but the husb and i started with drinks at the golden gopher last night and then headed to Iza-yoi in Little Toyko for izakaya, and had a fab time. Though I suppose not everyone's idea of romance :)

Thanks for the tag, btw and I'll post on it soon!

dinner was a success - but the sorbet didn't get hard enough - next time I'll start earlier because its the perfect consistency this morning. oh well. chad told me he liked "blood orange slushy" anyway.

I agree, unfortunately Valentine's Day is over commercialized, but it's hard to opt-out of the traditional romantic dinner route if your significant other compare notes with their friends the next day :)...
