Our baby James Emmanuel was born on Saturday, October 21st.
Blogging for now has taken a backseat to the many, many demands of parenting. Who has spare minutes and brain space to clean out spam comments, or take the time to eat more than a few rushed bites out of take out containers and food so kindly cooked and delivered by friends? And then write about it. Thankfully people have been very, very good to us.
Despite these changes I promise, no exclusive mommy-centric blogging to ensue...
Mommy-centric bloggin is A-okay in my book! And Jess, he is GORGEOUS.

Yeah, no shit. If only I weren't such a tech idiot and could upgrade version of MT I use without having to find outside help.

looks like it's time to turn on the anti-spam type-the-word filter thing. ;)

Congratulations on the birth of your son!
I was recently in LA and met an acquaintance of yours who forwarded a link to your blog. (I write a food blog out of Brooklyn with a friend of mine.)
I have two kids, who are older now, but I remember well those first few weeks with a newborn so I'm going to dispense my favorite piece of advice to new parents: Make your friends and family feed you! When my first daughter was born, eleven years ago, many of my friends came over to oogle the baby and would deposit a stuffed animal in my hands upon crossing my threshold. More often than not I would look down at the cute little piggy or panda or whatever and think "dang, I wish you were a burrito."
The absolute hardest part of being a parent is those first six weeks (although I still have puberty to contend with). After that it gets incrementally easier by the day. You will be back to blogging before you know it. In the meantime, I will content myself with reading your archives.
BTW, I thought the LA food scene was awesome, a revelation to me.
