interesting, the last time I was in NY, the best restaurant I ate at was Blue Hill. it's a superb place to eat. i don't think LA has a place like it (in terms of its farm-to-table excellence)

Though my 32nd birthday dinner at Le Bernardin remains my sentimental favorite (partly for the salt caramel "egg" dessert, partly for the French headwaiter very quietly and discreetly singing happy birthday), Blue Hill (35th birthday) is probably the best meal I've ever had. I think we had the impaled tomatoes as well, but that early in the meal I was still a bit schnockered from honey & oat infused vodka...
